Wireless USB 1.1 specs complete, now for the products

Now we know some of you might be thinking... there is a Wireless USB?? And we'll answer that question, yes there is. The guys at the USB Implementers Forum have recently completed the technical specifications for the Wireless USB 1.1 standard and is waiting for the manufacturers to make gadgets and products out of it. While it is still capped to the same speed of its 2.0 wired version at 480mbps, it promises reduction in power consumption and near-field communication for easier hookup of devices based on their proximity.

And if we're to imagine things, it's just like connecting two devices by simply sticking them together without any connectors or ports whatsoever. So basically it's like BlueTooth with data rates on steroids. Press release with links to the specifications themselves after the jump.
